Duties, Responsibilities and Privileges of a Blackmore's Boarder include, being a Fielder (Grade 8s), estate duty, litter duty, greeting, learning names and telephone duty. He is expected to uphold the Code of Honour, be an ambassador, learn general knowledge and be actively involved in school. One Musgrave exeat is allowed per week, the Grade 8s are allowed a cell phone from Term 3 and the shared common room is shared.
Initiation is not allowed, you will be part of an induction program the weekend before school starts and Courage retreat for grade 8's. There are certain responsibilities and duties for 2nd form. The first two weeks is a 'blackout' period, you will be allowed to go home every weekend after that, if you choose as long as your extra-mural commitments are met, except for the other closed weekends during the year.
Parental involvement is an essential part of the House with an active Blackmore's Parent Committee. This committee contributes towards social functions and upgrading of facilities and equipment. |
Rooms range from single man to eight man rooms. The house has a computer room, internet facilities, T.V. and recreational areas where boys can relax and unwind. Prep forms part of the daily routine which takes place in an air conditioned prep room and is over seen by a master. An audiovisual room also forms part of the Prep room which consists of computers and a television which are all used to enhance the educational needs of the boarders.
Three home cooked meals are provided daily by a private catering company - KKS. The needs of the boys are taken care of by a trained nursing sister in a well equipped sick bay. A doctor is on call for more serious ailments. Laundry and cleaning services are contracted out to private companies.
