DHS Achieves Cricket Blue Chip Status!

Cricket vs College - Smaller

Durban High School is delighted to have recently been awarded the coveted prestigious Blue Chip status as a school of cricket excellence by Cricket South Africa.

The Blue Chip Schools programme, CSA’s highest qualification rating for cricket school excellence, is designed to reward schools committed to providing an environment that will enable young players to exploit their full potential as sportspeople and to become the best cricketers they can be.

In order to achieve Blue Chip Status, schools have to meet various stringent criteria that are of acceptable CSA standards. Schools are judged through the Schools Quality Index (SQI), such as the number of teams, total matches played, coaches qualifications, facilities and representation in teams, and have to achieve at least 90% overall.

“We are very honoured to be one of the few schools to have achieved this distinction, particularly in light of our proud cricketing history”, said Andrew Shedlock, Director of Cricket at Durban High School.

DHS has produced 33 International cricketers and 38 SA Schools cricketers, a record unrivalled by any other school in the country.
