Craig Yelverton, new U14A Cricket Coach

Durban High School is very pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Yelverton as the U14A Cricket Coach.

Craig is a talented all-rounder cricketer who played as a left-handed top-order batsman and left arm seamer. During his career he has represented the 1st XI teams for both Berea Rovers CC and Crusaders CC.

Craig has also represented the KZN Zonal U23 District Team and has represented Futura Sports Agency in many academy games throughout South Africa for many years.

Craig has taken his passion for the game into the coaching and management of sportsmen, where he is excelling. Between coaching for and being the Director of Cricket at Futura Sports Agency, Craig has worked as a private cricket coach under the FSA banner for many years. This has exposed him to other sides of the game and better prepared him to understand players’ frustrations. It has also empowered him through experience to perceive what is needed to assist players reach their full potential.

Craig has achieved significant results as the Berea Rovers Assistant Coach and Head Coach, Northwood School High Performance Specialist Coach, Chatsworth Sporting Head Coach and Head Coach of the Club North Down Cricket Club in Ireland.

Being exposed to many cricketers at all levels, Craig knows exactly what to look for in a player to identify if they have that “X-factor”. He also identifies the best way to nurture a player’s talent and recognizes when best to expose them to the levels they are ready for. He is all about building up a player’s confidence and ability so that when they move up the levels and reach their full potential, there is no reason they will not succeed.

We welcome Craig to DHS and trust he will have a long and fruitful stay with us.
