Audio Visual Team

Durban High School is very proud to continue the long-running practice of having an Audio Visual Technical Crew to support the various functions and events around the School.

Whether it’s a musician from The Chris Seabrooke Music Centre wishing to expand his audio visual knowledge, or a learner with an interest in all things technical, boys are encouraged to sign up for the Sound and Lighting elective, held once a week under the tuition of experienced staff members.

Through the use of instructional videos, books, and classic concert footage, learners are introduced to new audio visual concepts, and their associated implementation in the ‘real world’. There is always much enthusiasm when they are finally ready to get more hands on, practical experience with the state of the art equipment installed in the Seabrooke’s Theatre.

The annual school production in the DC Thompson Hall is always the highlight of the year for the AV Crew, and allows them to shine in all the crucial behind-the-scenes roles as assistant stage managers, stage hands, radio mic technicians, or follow spot operators.
