Squash

Squash is a sport that pushes players in terms of agility, balance and power. It can be a highly competitive and vigorous sport which at the same time can also be fun and enjoyable. Squash players need to have a high degree of concentration and focus, which means that those who have an above average mental ability tend to perform well in the sport.

Durban High School has its own on-site squash courts on the edge of Van Heerden Field where regular practices and fixtures occur. Practices happen twice a week under the guidance of an experienced and dedicated coach. Novice players, as well as more experienced players, are catered for at these practice sessions.

Fixtures are played regularly throughout the year. These range from the Interhouse tournament to friendly fixtures against neighboring schools. Durban High School enters two teams into the KZN Squash Schools League. Learners have performed consistently well in the league over the last few years and every year we find a growing interest in the sport.
