The Durban High School is very pleased to announce the appointment of three new Trustees onto the DHS Foundation Trust.
The DHS Foundation plays a very important role in the successful functioning of the School and are committed to the development and upliftment of DHS.
We join the Foundation in celebrating the appointment of Lance Corbett, Sizwe Nxedlana and Dr Faisal Suliman and welcome them onboard – we look forward to benefitting from their expertise.
Lance Corbett:
Lance Corbett matriculated from DHS in 1986 and was Deputy Headboy of the School and Headboy of Blackmore House. Lance graduated from Rhodes University with a Bachelor Degree in Mineral Economics and an Economics Honours Degree. He then completed a Masters Degree in Engineering (Mineral Economics) at the University of the Witwatersrand. Lance joined Rand York Castings (Pty) Ltd in 1994, and is joint
CEO. Rand York Castings specialises in the international trade of specialized steel products. At present, Rand York Castings exports to forty five different countries.
Sizwe Nxedlana
Sizwe Nxedlana is the Chief Economist at First National Bank. Prior to that he was a Senior Economist in FNB’s Wealth segment where he was involved in macroeconomic and investment research and is a member of the investment and asset allocation committees. Before joining FNB Wealth he was an economist at FNB Commercial.
He began his career at the Bureau for Economic Research in Stellenbosch followed by a stint at Kagiso Trust Investments.
After Sizwe matriculated from DHS in 1999, he completed a Bachelor of Commerce Degree majoring in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Cape Town and a Master of Commerce Degree in Economics from the University of KwaZulu Natal.
Dr Faisal Suliman
Dr Faisal Suliman matriculated from Overport Secondary School in 1985. He has an MBBCh from Wits University Medical School, a Diploma in Anaesthesia from the College of Medicine South Africa, and an MBA (Cum Laude) from University of KZN.
He is a performance-orientated professional with a comprehensive record in the broadcasting field having served on the SABC Religious Broadcast Panel as well as an advisor on the Radio Lotus Advisory Panel.
Faisal is well versed in broadcasting, management, dispute resolution and the workings of the SABC. As part of the Al Ansaar Media Network, he led the organisation in defining, developing, and executing long-term excellence, au fait with ICASA, and submission of management and compliance reports and therefore has an insight into aspects of broadcasting policy regulations.
Faisal is a medical doctor at has his own private medical centre in Kwa Mashu. He is also the Director of Quality Sweets/Treats CC.
