Matric Results : Class of 2015

The Head Master and Staff of the Durban High School would like to congratulate the Class of 2015 on their excellent National Senior Certificate results. These results serve as affirmation that DHS continues to be one of the top academic institutions in the country.
Particularly pleasing were the 95% pass rate, the Bachelor pass rate of 85% and the 292 subject distinctions.
Another excellent indication of the calibre of the results was the outstanding achievements of two of our boys:
Nikyle Bisseru was placed 6th overall in KZN and 1st in the Umlazi District (Umlazi is the top performing district in KZN); and
Aravind Arunakirinathar was placed 1st in KZN in Mathematics and 3rd in Mathematics in SA (with 100%).
Aravind was invited to attend the Department of Education National Awards Ceremony in Pretoria where he received a commendation from the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga. Both boys were invited to the KZN Department of Education awards ceremony at the ICC, which they attended with Head Master, Mr Leon Erasmus.
Other achievements worth mentioning are:
• 9 learners achieved 7 distinctions
• 7 learners achieved 6 distinctions
• 14% of our learners achieved an A aggregate
• 16% of our learners achieved a B aggregate
• 25% achieved a C aggregate
• 55% achieved a C aggregate or higher
• 49% of the learners who wrote isiZulu received subject distinctions, with an overall subject average mark of 76%
• 47% of the learners who wrote Drama received subject distinctions, with an overall subject average mark of 78%
• 41% of the learners who wrote Accounting received subject distinctions, with an overall average mark of 68%
• 63% overall average
• 79% of our learners wrote Mathematics
