On Saturday 13 February, Durban High School hosted the Alan Burt Gala at Kings Park Swimming Pool as part of the 150th Celebrations.
This year was the 50th year of this annual gala, also dubbed the Top 10 Gala, and is traditionally attended by five schools from KZN and five schools from Gauteng:
Durban High School, Kearsney College, Glenwood High School, Westville Boys’ High, Clifton College; and

Overall, Westville Boys’ High was the winning school, with over 70 points ahead of the next team. However, there were some in tightly contested battles between the other teams, with St David’s and Pretoria Boy’s battling it out for 2nd and 3rd, St Stithians and Glenwood for 4th and 5th position and only 3 points difference between Maritzburg College and Kearsney.
The final results were:

2nd      St David’s

Following the gala, a special awards ceremony was held to honour our very own Mr Alan Burt, after whom the gala is named. His dedication and contribution to the sport is admirable and he was awarded a special blazer on behalf of Durban High School as a symbol of their gratitude.
