Congratulations to Durban Prep for Winning the U12 Sevens Rugby Tournament!
This past weekend, as part of our 150th celebrations, Durban High School hosted the Graham “Basher” Downes U12 Sevens Rugby Tournament. The tournament was played over two days in a 16 team format consisting of 4 pools.
Durban Preparatory High School, who won the Tournament last year, defended their title and once again walked away with the winning Graham “Basher” Downes trophy. They beat Glenwood Preparatory School in the final 24-7.
Parents, visitors and old boy supporters came in their numbers to support these up and coming primary school future rugby stars.
The Man of the Tournament was Sphakanyiswa Zulu of Durban Prep … congratulations, Sphakanyiswa!
Graham Downes, or “Basher” as he was fondly called, attended DHS from 1969 to 1973. Downes had played over 44 games as Prop for the Natal Rugby side between 1983-1985 as well as a being a stalwart member of DHSOB rugby team.
