1st XV Rugby vs Voortrekker
1st XV Rugby vs Voortrekker

The “Horseflies” played their annual midweek fixture against Voortrekker under lights on Wednesday night and were able to string together a much better performance, running out dominant 50-0 victors over Voortrekker.
Although DHS made a few handling errors on the night, their ability to score from turnover ball has allowed them to take games away from their opponents this term. The team found some much needed composure with Sanele Nohamba starting at flyhalf. His tactical kicking early on helped DHS find the territorial advantage from which to mount their attacks.
Loose forward Sean Barnes made his comeback from concussion and took his place in the starting front row for the game. The forwards certainly gave the team the front-foot ball they needed and some excellent performances from tighthead prop Mthokozisi Gumede and flanker Asande Mnguni brought a lot of energy to the team.
Tries rained down from early on as DHS took an early lead through some great interplay amongst the forwards. Ultimately, the DHS attack possessed too much for Voortrekker, who, credit to them, fought valiantly the entire game. They are certainly physically in great shape a can be proud of their efforts.
DHS can be most pleased with their defensive efforts this term as they have conceded only 10 points from 3 games. This is certainly a great base from which to start. The team now travels to the St Stithians Rugby Festival over the Easter Weekend and are hoping to emulate their new found form.
