On 19 May 2017, a group of Grade 11 learners completed their eight weeks of training in Leadership, Communication and Public Speaking skills. A formal dinner was held in AJ Human Room. DHS staff, parents and invited guests were in attendance to witness these young men graduate.

During the eight weeks, the students learned skills necessary to hold the role of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Sergeant –at-Arms, Secretary, Timekeeper, Impromptu Topics Master, Fine / Jokes Master and Chief Evaluator. These roles were held by the students at the final dinner and they fulfilled them successfully.

The evening was not only about the speeches, but one of our music students, Nathan Harvey, entertained us with beautiful songs between speeches.

This was a night of speeches, good music, tasty food, a great company of people and a tastefully decorated venue. The graduates will cherish this moment for many years to come.

The following graduates received first place in the following categories:

Prepared Speech: Zakariya Adam
Evaluation: Krishna Rajput
Impromptu Speech: Jeevesh Sooriah

These gentlemen who came first in the above categories have progressed to the Semi Finals and Finals in the KZN Region. These Semi Finals will be held later this year.
