Three weeks of holiday are about to start; however, that does not mean we will be resting. It is a very busy holiday, with a large number of activities, ranging from Football, to Chess, Debating, Rugby and a Creative Arts Holiday Programme.
Three of our Debating boys left this morning to represent the Durban and Coastal League at the annual KZN Provincial Champs at Hillcrest High. The Champs take place today and tomorrow.
Durban High School is hosting a Football Festival from 1 to 3 July, following on from the success of the inaugural festival held during the 150th celebrations last year. Ten schools from around the country will be playing 30 games over three days and we are expecting to see some very attractive Football. Games will be played from 9am until 3pm each day, the fixtures can be found on page 3 of this newsletter or on our Facebook page. Do come along to support our Festival and our Boys.
The U14, U15 and U16 Football teams will all be participating in Football tournaments at DHS, Westville Boys’ and Pinetown Boys’ on 5 July.
In addition, a Football Coaches workshop run by Clive Barker is being held for the DHS Coaches on 10-12 July.
Two of our U16 Rugby players will be participating in the Grant Khomo Rugby Week at Grey College, Bloemfontein from 10 to 14 July, along with Coach Scott Mathie.
The Chris Seabrooke Music Centre is hosting a Creative Arts Holiday Programme from 10 to 14 July and some of our boys will be participating in the SA Open Chess Championships at Glenwood High from 14 to 22 July.
Two of our Badminton players are off to represent KZN at the U19 SA Championships and Inter Provincials for the KZN A team which is taking place in Cape Town from 15 to 22 July.
One of our Hockey boys is playing for the KZN Coastal Impis in the U18 North Tournament at Kearsney from 17 to 20 July.
Finally, nine of our Rugby players will be participating in the U18 Craven Week and Academy Week at St Stithians from 17 to 22 July.
A busy, busy holiday period! We wish all our boys and staff participating good luck and safe travels!
