Cohen Naidoo, Senzo Langazana and Nkanyiso Gasa, who toured to Spain with the KZN Youth Choir, returned home with 4 wins under their belts. The Choir entered 4 categories in the Golden Voices of Barcelona International Choir Competition and won all 4!
The categories they entered and won were Academic, Sacred, Gospel and Folk. In addition to winning all 4 categories, for the Sacred category the Chamber Choir was placed second.
The Golden Voices of Barcelona is one of the biggest choir competitions in the world. The choir performed in the Sagrada Familia, the world famous Roman Catholic Church in Barcelona designed by Antoni Gaudi.
According to patron of the KZN Youth Choir, Lou Tolken, their singing in the cathedral “was absolutely beautiful and they virtually had hundreds of tourists who crowded around to hear them sing.”
