About 35 DHS Athletes, accompanied by coaches Charné Gous and Edwin Govender as well as M-i-C, Mr W Goodwin, attended the Durban/Umlazi District Central Circuit Trials which were held at Kings Park Stadium. In slightly cooler than expected weather conditions, the trials commenced slightly behind schedule. However, several items on the athletics programme were discarded: hammer throw, pole vault, steeple chase and the 5000m walk, allowing the delays to be accommodated.
After a hectic day of trials which included 11 heats in the boys U15 100m, the following athletes were selected to attend the next round of District trials. These will take place at the Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday, 20 February. The selected athletes achieved overall 1st, 2nd, 3rd places, thus justifying and confirming their selections:
