This last weekend saw DHS travel up to Empangeni to play fixtures against Grantleigh School and Felixton College.
The boys arrived at Grantleigh on Friday for their first set of games. The U14A and U16A were very dominant which saw them win 6-0 and 7-0. The first team boys started the game well going two goals up. A really fired up home team came back to bring the score to 2-1. This left all to play for in the last chukka of the game. A change in plans and a real increase in tempo saw DHS score 3 goals in the last chukka to win the game 5-1.
That Friday evening the boys were hosted and made plenty of new friends before playing their last set of fixtures on the Saturday. The U14A boys looked like they had a late night as they just couldn’t get into gear which resulted in a 3-2 loss to Felixton. The U16A team was very dominant and won 7-0 against Grantleigh. The 1st team took a knock early as one of the key players was unable to play due to being sick, the second knock came 5 minutes into the game when a player had to leave the field with a split lip. Going deep into the bench the DHS boys really had to raise the tempo to win the game. The boys struck early and went 2-0 up. In the third chukka a brilliant counter attack saw Felixton take it to 2‑1. With everything to play for in the last chukka the DHS boys held on to their lead and won the game 2-1.
A huge thank you to Grantleigh and Felixton for hosting our boys and staff and for the wonderful fixture which we will continue to hold in the future.
