Last week Saturday a tightly contested game was held against Crawford North Coast. It was a fiery affair from the first whistle and both teams from the start were competing for the win.
Crawford went 1-0 up before the half time break after some scrappy defense from the DHS boys. Some strong words and change in plans were used at the half-time break and immediately you could see an improvement from the DHS boys who opened their goal account off a short corner from Tiagan Terreblanche.
Crawford started throwing overheads which forced us to drop our press and catch them on the counter. This set up our second goal with a well worked counter attack and Enrique Schnetler put the ball in the back of the net.
The game was coming to a close and Crawford won a penalty corner, after again poor defending by DHS. Crawford converted to make the score 2-2. Time was running out and it looked like it would be a draw. With 40 seconds to go DHS had a long corner, forcing the ball into the circle, and Sanolin Pather got the last touch to end the game 3-2 and DHS started the season with a hard fought win.
