Fashion (R)EVOLUTION was slick, smart and professional. The evening 23 March 2018 began with an amazing line-up of performers. Mr Pete Skevington rendered his final performance on stage as he retires from the teaching profession this year. His wonderful skill with the guitar will leave a huge void in the music department. Old boy, Preven Reddy, who is an up and coming stand-up comedian entertained the audience with his funny take on school life. Mkhize and his group of dancers/rappers really had the crowd going and clapping to the beats of his very catchy own composition. Cameron Naidoo and his band certainly set the mood with his rock/ R&B piece.
The entertainment segment ended all too soon and the fashion section followed quickly afterwards.
Again this year, our matric boys outshone the girls on the ramp. Credit must go to Shaun Stander (owner of Mobile Model Management) who never hesitates to help us out with the choreography. The time and commitment he gives to our school is highly appreciated. Thank you Shaun for all that you do for our school. Our young men displayed class, poise and a great deal of professionalism when they modelled the different clothing lines and were well represented.
It is always good to watch our normally academically and sport inclined learners get out of their comfort zones and take to the spotlight of a different kind. This is such an excellent, fun way of raising funds for the Matric Dance.
Our models looked like supermodels as they took to the ramp in the various garments so kindly loaned to us by various Fashion Stores in and around Durban. This year, we once again welcomed to our school, a regular feature on SA Fashion Week, Vanessa Pillay of Hombre garments. It was so refreshing to see a display of such a totally different range of garments.
The showstopper had to be, once again, the DHS staff modelling segment. Thank you to the staff that embraced the theme fully and took to the ramp in style. Again Mr Oss never failed to impress and we will sadly miss his presence on the ramp as he leaves our school for a new venture. We wish him all the best and know that he will excel in his field of expertise- cricket.
Thank you to all our sponsors for the evening – Hombre, Holmes Bros, Suit Yourself, Ripcurl & Sempre Fidelis.
Thank you to all those who attended. We are always grateful for your support.
