Naseem Excels at First Cambridge Exam!

Naseem Cambridge

Naseem Essa, Grade 9 at Durban High School and our first entrant for the Cambridge Assessment International IGCSE Examination, has received an outstanding set of results:
English First Language
(Oral endorsement) – 84%
Cambridge International Mathematics – 95%
Physical Science Extended  – 93%
Economics – 87%
What makes these results even more remarkable is that Naseem will, in one year, have completed the IGCSE which is usually written over two years and completed at the end of Grade 10. Next year Naseem will begin the AS Level Course, which is equivalent to Grade 11 and 12, when he is in Grade 10. An outstanding achievement!
Academy Director, Carolyn Dickinson, describes Naseem as “an incredibly hard-working, focused young gentleman who deserves these excellent results”.
This is a superb start for Durban High School’s Cambridge and Nonpareil Academy programme which is in its first year of operation. The Nonpareil Academy is designed for motivated and academically talented boys whose needs are not adequately met in mainstream high school. Boys in the programme are expected to function at a high level of excellence. The Academy serves as an instrument for further development and progress within the Durban High School context and then into the tertiary education environment.
The Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) is a world-class international programme that gives students an excellent opportunity to apply to tertiary education institutions worldwide. The highly respected syllabus allows students to develop a deeper understanding of subjects and, through refined and interactive teaching techniques, they are given the skills to be able to explore their chosen subjects at a more complex level.
The Cambridge and Nonpareil Academy is run by Mrs Dickinson and, throughout the year, the boys receive continuous support from the highly experienced and qualified DHS Educators and Facilitators who have undergone professional training and development to ensure that quality teaching and learning are achieved.
The introduction of the Academy at DHS has given our boys the opportunity to excel at Academics, an opportunity that has certainly been made the most of by Naseem, who attended Glenwood Prep.
Congratulations and well done, Naseem!
