Shine 2, a musical extravaganza introduced to Durban High School last year by Ms Natalie Rungan, Head of Music and Director of the Chris Seabrooke Music Centre, was held on Wednesday 24 April in the school hall.
The concert creates a platform for boys and girls who are gifted in music to perform and play their instruments in front of an audience to assist them to develop, grown and Shine as musicians. Budding musicians from DHS, Durban Girls’ High and Northlands Girls’ High showcased their talents on the evening.
Included in the line-up was a DHS Band of Year competition. Four bands competed, Grade 9, Grade 10, Grade 10X and Grade 12. All bands performed superbly, however, it was the Grade 9 band which took the prize. Thank you to Ms Julie Gappoo from Marshall Music who very kindly judged the competition.
As a finale, the theme song for the show, “Shine”, written by Ms Rungan, was performed by the entire cast, a delightful end to a fabulous evening of music and talent. Thank you to Ms Rungan and the performers.
