Founders Weekend will soon be upon us (31 May to 1 June), and The DHS Foundation will be hosting a number of celebrations for our Old Boys.
First up is the Old Boys Assembly which is to be held in the School Hall on Friday 31 May 2019 at 8am. This assembly will take all our Old Boys down memory lane and the nostalgia of enjoying assembly, not only with the current scholars and staff of DHS, but also with the Old Boys and staff of yesteryear.
Our Old Boys are encouraged to attend this ±45-minute assembly which will be followed by tea/coffee and refreshments in the Foyer area. There is no better occasion to gauge the spirit and ethos of the current DHS and we encourage all our Old Boys to attend and witness first-hand the wonderful value system that prevails at DHS of today. Special seating in the hall will be reserved for Old Boys/Staff that attend and dress is smart casual.
The Assembly will be followed on the same day by the Foundation Golf Day, which is being held at Royal Durban Golf Club and will conclude with the Prize-Giving and dinner. As we wish to celebrate our 153rd year in style, the Foundation and School would be especially honoured to have Old Boys, or their companies, participate in our Golf Day, either by playing or sponsoring a tee, green or prizes. The cost of entering a 4 Ball is R1900, which includes green fees, a R50 halfway house refreshment voucher and dinner at the prize-giving. Tee-off times are from 9.30am to 12pm.
Old Boys playing in the Golf Day will have plenty of time to attend the Old Boys Assembly and to thereafter make their way down to Royal Durban for the day’s golf festivities. Our Old Boys are therefore encouraged to make a special effort to attend the Old Boys Assembly prior to the golf.
An inaugural Old Boys Breakfast is being held at School on Founders Day, Saturday 1 June 2019 from 8.30am to 10am. The Breakfast costs R175 per head and includes a buffet breakfast, a celebrity panel discussion with DHS Old Boys Barry Richards, Lee Irvine, Brendon ‘BJ’ Botha, Adrian Hansen and Garreth ‘Soldierboy’McLellan and then a trip Down Memory Lane with Kevin Mardon. A tour of the school will held at 10am.
The fixtures on Founders Day are against Glenwood High, with the 1st XV Rugby game being held at approximately 2.30pm, followed by a cocktail function in the School Hall for all our Old Boys, DHS Parents and supporters.
Should you wish to participate and/or attend any of these events, please contact Bronwyn Bath in the Foundation office on admin@dhsfoundation.co.za for booking forms and further details.
We look forward to seeing you all on Founders Weekend!
