On the back of the year we have all had, it was really pleasing that we were able to hold our Annual Golf Day, which took place at Mount Edgecombe CC on 2 October.
A full field of Golfers braced the overcast and coolish conditions, and everyone involved in the day was holding thumbs that the rain that was predicted would hold off. The Golfers teed off to a shotgun start at 12pm.
Fortunately, the weather held off for the majority of the day, with a short downpour midway through the afternoon; however, this did not dampen the Golfers spirits. This was probably also due to the liquid refreshments that they received on some of our sponsored holes.
The round finished just in time, as the rain that was predicted finally came down just as the final hole was completed and the Golfers were making their way back to the Clubhouse,.
Days like this cannot take place without the help and support of individuals and sponsors. Firstly, a big thank you to the DHS Foundation Office Manager, Liezl Basson for all her hard work building up to and on the Day. To the DHS Mom’s Committee for their support, not only during the day, but for also assisting in obtaining prizes and sponsors for the day. Their help and assistance on the day, at registration, sorting the prizes etc, is greatly appreciated. Thank you to Sharon Drew for all her help and assistance on the day and especially for all the photos.
A very big thank you to Stephen and Lynda Saad, for the donation of a two-night stay at &Beyond Kirkman’s Kamp and Mr Pat Goss for three-night stay at Umngazi Hotel & Spa. These prizes were auctioned off during prize giving and I am pleased to say that a good sum of money was raised.
A big thank you to our four main sponsors: Trellidor, Futurelife, Katherine Property & Development and our brother school DPHS for their sponsorship.
Thank you to Afri-Source, Afrequip, Marshall Security, Peppers & Pans, The Fat Goat, Spar Group, Heineken and Greg and Deanne Hamilton for the sponsorship of a tee and/or green. And to Digi TV for the wonderful footage, it is much appreciated.
To all the Golfers who supported the day, a big thank you! Finally, a thank you to Kate Watkin, Thobile Mhlongo and Mount Edgecombe CC for hosting the Golf Day. Your support and organisation is greatly appreciated.
I have only received positive feedback, so one can say that everyone who took part in our Golf Day thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
I look forward to seeing you all at the next Golf Day which will be held over our Founders Day celebrations in 2021.
