The swimming season culminated in the final gala, being the auspicious Durban & Districts Gala (D&D). The event was held at the Kings Park Swimming complex this week and the showdown was on between the top 6 boys schools in Durban.

The DHS team once again did not disappoint and put in sublime performances. All the efforts of the coaching staff and boys paid off and our boys were placed in a well-earned second position.

The turnaround in Swimming at School has been monumental and the results are a reflection of the hard work that has been put in by all coaches and swimmers. A huge congratulations to all involved!

Cricket

1st XI Cricket

Cricket is another Sport at School where a huge emphasis has been placed on improving our results.

vs Northwood

A fantastic set of Cricket results were achieved with our 1st XI, U16A and U15A all beating Northwood!

vs Kearsney

Well done to Kearsney who won the majority of the fixtures that were played, however, we would like to mention two stand out victories that included our 1st XI and U15A teams.

Our 1st XI batted first and scored a low total of 148. The character and pride shown to bowl Kearsney for 118 all out is a testament to the hard work being put in by our boys and Mr M Shezi after a disappointing start to the year. This victory follows another victory against Glenwood in the team’s previous fixture played.

A special mention to Kamran Naraidu who took 5 wickets for 42 runs after 10 overs, as well as Bongumusa Shezi who took 4 wickets for 17 runs after 10 overs!

Our U15As, who have yet to lose a game, continued their outstanding start to the season with a convincing 9 wicket win over Kearsney! This victory is their 7th consecutive win so far this term.

Athletics

DHS Athletes

Our DHS Athletes have excelled again. Our star Athletes each won their respective fields in Athletics for the second round of Umlazi District trials!

Ntando Buthelezi won the Long Jump for the U19 Age Group – and he is still only U18.
Owam Nqweniso won the 200m for the U15 Age Group.
Zenkosi Mthiyane won both the 100m and 200m for the U17 Age Group – still only U16!
Adriano Jackson won the High Jump for the U17 Age Group – still only U16!
Thandolwami Ntshangase won the Long Jump for the U17 Age Group.

Well done to all of you and keep flying the DHS Flag high!

The work that has been put in behind the scenes to turn Sport around at School since the arrival of Mr Pinheiro as Head Master five years ago has been tireless.

The overall improvement in results is a true testament to the efforts of our Coaches, Senior Management and Boys. We look forward to a continuation of this improvement and thank all involved for their tremendous efforts.
