DHS Rugby and Hockey teams participated in various festivals during the recent holidays and we are proud and delighted to say that not one team lost a game … our U14A Hockey side went unbeaten at the Westville Hockey Festival, the 2nd XV, U16A, 15A and U14A Rugby teams were unbeaten at the Glenwood Rugby Festival and our U16A Hockey Team remained unbeaten at the Keith Fairweather Hockey Festival.
Hockey
The DHS U16A Hockey participated in the Keith Fairweather Hockey Festival. They started like a house on fire, playing and winning their three games convincingly on Day 1.
DHS beat Zwartkop 6-0
DHS beat Parel Vallie 5-0
The continued their fine form on Day 2, with another three wins from three games:
DHS U16A beat Eldoraigne 6-0
DHS U16A beat Nelspruit 2-1
DHS U16A beat Sentraal 7-0
The team finished the Festival unbeaten, playing two games on the last day with the following results:
DHS U16A drew with Merensky 0-0
DHS U16A beat Oosterland 8-0
A massive congratulations to the boys and coaches as we played 8 games, won 7 and drew 1!
This team also made the DHS Family exceptionally proud, not only for their outstanding results, but because of their behavior and sportsmanship which were a true testament to the Mission Statement of School.

“I would just like to congratulate the DHS U16 boys who participated in the Keith Fairweather Hockey tournament.
Boys, your manners were impeccable, you greeted all adults that you came in contact with, and certainly made your school proud.
I post this because no other school over the 3 days greeted his parents, only the DHS boys!

Rugby

The DHS 2nd XV, U16A, U15A and U14A Rugby teams all participated in the Glenwood Rugby Festival and all teams were unbeaten!
2nd XV
DHS beat Grey Bloem Invitational 17-12
The match was an absolute humdinger!
DHS beat Goudveld 1st Team 15-10
What a game! Trailing 8-10 with 5 minutes to go, the boys never gave up and scored a try from 85 meters away from their try line, taking the final score in Schools’ favour!
DHS beat Wesvalia 1st Team 7-5
The 2nd XV won another titanic battle against Wesvalia.

U16A
DHS beat Wesvalia 64-5
Our boys played some scintillating Rugby today and managed to beat a very physical Wesvalia team.
DHS beat Volkskool Heidelberg 64-0
The team played a great mix of running and physical Rugby which managed to blow the opposition away.
DHS beat KZN Development 105-0
Our U16A were just too strong for the KZN Development team.

U15A
DHS beat Jim Fouche 76-0

U14A
DHS beat Montana 43-0

DHS beat Wesvalia 19-0
These victories ensured that all four participating teams remained unbeaten at the Festival. What an incredible effort from all players and coaches.
A huge congratulations to all involved, you have done the DHS Family so proud! Thank you for all the tireless work being put in by our amazing coaches, leadership of the School and, most importantly, the effort of our boys!
We would also like to say a massive thank you to the parents of our boys who supported in large numbers. Many of our parents visited from afar and did not miss a single day or minute of play. It is this type of love and passion for our boys that makes the DHS Family so incredibly special.

KZN Schools Jazz Festival
DHS also hosted the KZN Schools Jazz Festival during the holidays. The performances were unbelievable and the talent on display had the audience in awe.
