Congratulations to the young men of DHS below who have achieved in their respective areas.
RUGBY
Craven Week:
Congratulations to the record breaking six DHS 1st XV players who represented KZN, as well as to the DHS 1st XV and Craven Week Physiotherapist Mr Marc Colia on a successful Craven Week Tournament. Two out of victories, with a narrow 5-point loss against the heavy favourites and eventual winners of the competition and host union, Western Province, is a performance you can all be proud of.
Congratulations to you all on waving the DHS Flag high, the DHS Community is incredibly proud of you.
Academy Week:
Congratulations to Maurice Willemse, Mr L Matthysen (Coach) and Mr M Jansen van Rensburg (Manager) who were all members of the Sharks Schools Academy U17 team which won the SA Rugby Academy Week that took place in Wellington!
The team also made history as not only were they the first ever U17 team to be sent to the SA Rugby Academy Week where they played all three of their games against U18 Teams, but it is also the first time since 1990 that a KZN Rugby side has won the Final at a Provincial Tournament.
The Sharks U17 team beat the Valke on Day 1 (28-5), the hosts Boland (45-15) on day 2 and Free State in the Final (32-20).
Congratulations on all of your efforts that have contributed to this historic victory!
Grant Khomo Week:
The Grant Khomo Festival took place in Kimberley this year, with no less than six DHS players members of the KZN Sharks U16 team.
With our proud history of producing leaders, we were delighted when Captain of the DHS U16A Rugby team, Luqobo ‘Bibo’ Makwedini, was announced as the Grant Khomo U16 Rugby Captain. We are so incredibly proud to see how his leadership qualities have been noticed even further. Congratulations Bibo!
The KwaZulu-Natal Grant Khomo Team made it two victories in their first two games after a fabulous victory against tournament favourites, Western Province (24-7). They also beat Eastern Province (42-13), but lost to the eventual winners of the Tournament, Free State (18-39). Our six DHS representatives were in scintillating form, with all six players getting on the scoreboard in both matches, which included a Man of the Match performance by Aka Boqwana against Eastern Province on day one.
To Mr F Genade (Coach) and our DHS boys involved, we are so incredibly proud of you all.

DURBAN YOUTH COUNCIL (DYC)
Abhay Nunan and Riley Clarivette have been elected onto the Durban Youth Council. Abhay has been voted in as the Deputy Mayor and Riley was voted in as Council Manager.
Abhay has already managed to obtain the sponsorship of 1000 x 5 litre bottles of water for Gift of the Givers for the those who were affected by the devastating floods in KZN, whilst Riley worked on setting up a market to provide further relief.
As a school, we burst with pride when our current students emulate the pupils of our proud past who have gone on to become the leaders that our society so desperately needs.
