South African Selections

It is with immense pride and excitement that Durban High School announces, and congratulates, the following boys on their selections to represent South African.

Bagcine Gqweta and Leruo Ditlhakanyane

HOCKEY

SA Schools U18A:
Bagcine Gqweta and Leruo Ditlhakanyane (U17) were selected for the SA Schools U18A team that participated in a three-match series vs Namibia and secured a clean sweep, winning all three of their matches.

SA Schools U18B:
Othembayo Ndondo has been selected for the SA schools U18B team.

SA Schools U17 High Performance Schools:
Lulonke Gono has been selected for the SA Schools U17 HP squad that will participate in an HP camp.

 SA Schools U16 High Performance Squad:
Bhavesh Naicker, Lumi Matwele and Lethabo Bocagwi were all selected for the South African U16 High Performance Hockey Squad

 

RUGBY

 SA Schools A Rugby Squad:
Christian Everitt has been selected for the SA Schools A Rugby Squad.

Congratulations to Christian on this outstanding selection! Also, being in Grade 11 makes this selection even more admirable. A big part of the successful season of the DHS 1st XV can be contributed to what he has brought not only onto the field, but off the field as well as he truly is a special character.

 

GOLF

Daniel Bennett selected for South Africa, AGAIN!

Congratulations to Daniel Bennett who was selected to represent South Africa for the third time. This time he played in the 2022 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup held in Japan, where the South African Protea Boys’ Team managed to end the tournament in overall 4th position. In the individual Boys’ event, Daniel performed the best of his team and finished in a very creditable 8th place, overall.

Congratulations to you once again Daniel! You continue to make us proud!

 

SWIMMING

Keyontae Raynard and Awande Nkunzi – DHS Swimmers selected for South Africa!!

School would like to say a huge congratulations to Keyontae Raynard and Awande Nkunzi who have been selected to represent South Africa in Swimming.

Keyontae will be attending the FINA Junior World Swimming Championships in Lima, Peru.

We are so incredibly proud to see that the commitment and dedication shown by Keyontae and Awande is being rewarded.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MUSIC

 Litha Mpondo has been selected for the National Schools Jazz Band.

The DHS Jazz Band performed at the Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Festival in Makhanda where the top jazz student in South Africa audition for places in the band! By being successfully selected, Litha is one of the top jazz students in the country.

Earning your National Colours is the pinnacle of any person’s career and we could not be prouder of Litha and his achievement!

 

SURFING

DHS Surfing Superstar heading to El Salvador for the World Junior Surfing Champs!

Congratulations to Ntokozo ‘Surprise’ Maphumulo who was selected to represent South Africa against the best Surfers in the world at the ISA (International Surfing Association) World Junior Surfing Championship.

It is no surprise to the Durban Surfing fraternity, as they have been watching Ntokozo ride waves since he was 10 years old. The sky is truly the limit for Ntokozo at the moment and as a School with such a proud history of producing phenomenal Surfers, we could not be prouder as Ntokozo continues to achieve such success.

Well done, Ntokozo, the entire DHS Family is behind you!

 

WATER POLO

Mr D Cronje selected for South Africa in Water Polo!

A massive congratulations to Mr Dylan Cronje who was selected for the South African Water Polo Team which participated in the 19th FINA World Championships which took place in Budapest. The FINA World Championship is the largest international competition in Aquatic Sport.

Mr Cronje coaches the highly successful and very talented DHS U15A Water Polo Team and we are so very proud of his latest achievement! Congratulations and well done, Sir!
