Winter Sports Round UP

HOCKEY

DHS enjoyed a historic Hockey season for the year 2022.

We produced the most ever KZN representatives for DHS throughout all age groups and had the most National representatives out of any school in KZN!

However, we would like to make special mention of the U14B Hockey side. The U14B finished the season UNBEATEN!!

Congratulations to both Mr C Goodwin and all players on this absolutely phenomenal achievement. The DHS Family and Community are extremely proud of you all.

Deo Fretus!

RUGBY

With the DHS Rugby season coming to an end for the year 2022, we wish to congratulate every single person involved who has contributed to achieving the most successful Rugby season DHS has experienced over the last two decades.

Whilst all teams, coaches, staff, supporters and management have been phenomenal, we wish to specifically mention the following teams and what they have achieved this year:

DHS U14A
The DHS U14A side were the only team in KwaZulu-Natal to not lose a game locally! The last time a DHS U14A achieved this was in the year of 1991-31 years ago!

DHS U14B
The U14B side remained unbeaten at home for the 2022 season. The last U14B side to achieve this was in 2018.

DHS U15B
The U15B side also remained unbeaten at home this season, making them the first U15B team to achieve this since 2003!

DHS 3rd XV
The 3rd XV were also unbeaten at home this year, making this the first 3rd XV to do so since the year 2006.

DHS U16A
U16 Rugby was introduced to DHS in 1995. This is the first DHS U16A Team to not lose a game at home in the history of U16A Rugby for DHS. The team also achieved the following:

  • Scored the greatest number of tries in a season for DHS U16A – 110 tries
  • Scored the most amount of points in a season for DHS U16A – 730 points
  • Conceded the least amount of tries in a season for DHS U16A – 17 tries
  • Only conceded 4 tries at home – another new record
  • The best points difference statistic for a DHS U16A Team – 596 points
  • Recorded the biggest win in DHS’ U16A history against Hilton – 73-0
  • DHS participated for the first time this year at Wildeklawer, which is the best schoolboy Rugby competition in the country – the team won both games against Oakdale and Menlopark and were the only team from KwaZulu-Natal to win both of their games
  • The only DHS U16A Team to win 10 consecutive fixtures in a season.

Congratulations to every single person involved on your fantastic, history making season.
