Rugby & Hockey
vs Maritzburg College:
DHS 1st XV and 1st XI beat Maritzburg College!
It was a day to remember for both DHS Rugby and Hockey as all of our A sides for both codes managed to beat our longest and greatest rivals, Maritzburg College.
Congratulations to our 1st XV who retain the Skonk Nicholson Trophy after a hard fought 14-7 win.
An even bigger congratulations to our 1st XI Hockey, who for the first time since 2009, managed to beat the mighty Maritzburg College Hockey 1st XI!
One would have to trace back through the yearbooks for a couple of decades to see when last this happened. We couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved with today – our players, coaches and the management of School.
Congratulations to College who won the majority of the games from the C side fixtures down to the Es.

vs Various Teams
Saturday 12 March saw a full round of warm up fixtures in both Rugby and Hockey take place. It was a great weekend for both codes with all our teams enjoying a great ‘unofficial’ start to the season.
One of the highlights of the day was undoubtedly the start of a new tradition where the 1st XV took it upon themselves to become the Water Boys for the U14A side. It was the first time that our U14As played on Van Heerden’s, which is a special moment in itself, but to see the surprise and admiration in their eyes when their 1st XV heroes were bringing on their water was truly something special to witness.
We are more than just a school!
Swimming
KZN Schools Top 9 Gala
The Swimming season concluded with the KZN Top 8 Gala hosted at the Kings Park Swimming complex last night. The objective was again to produce the best performance we could as a team. The boys performed exceptionally well, with the U17s again winning four of their five events.
The highlight for DHS was undoubtedly the 1st place in the five-age freestyle event. In this event our last two swimmers, Brendan Visser and Keyontae Raynard, made up a body length to beat the gala winners Westville.
We are so proud of you all.
The Final standings were as follows:
Westville 200
DHS 181
Clifton 121
Maritzburg College 109
Hilton 101
Northwood 99
Glenwood 64
Kearsney 44
Cricket
Both our U14A and U15A Cricket teams continued their strong form in the W100 Cricket series yesterday afternoon. Congratulations to our U14As who beat Westville and our U15As who once again beat Glenwood.
Eben Peters, again, fired with the bat for the U14As, scoring a blistering 40 runs which paved the way for a solid 5 wicket victory over Westville.
For the U15As, there was no stopping Taine Havemann at the moment. The top order batsman and Captain has enjoyed a phenomenal season and his performance ensured his great run of form continued as he scored a brilliant 78* off 47 balls! Also, a superb bowling spell from Sandi Mazibuko ensured a comfortable 39 run win for the U15As as he took 4 wickets for 13 runs after 4 overs!
Once again, congratulations to both players and coaches.
